Maximiliano Sorbellini, MD, is director of urologic oncology and associate medical director of The Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Sorbellini specializes in open, laparoscopic, and robotic urologic surgery and employs cutting-edge technologies, such as MRI fusion–guided biopsy, for the treatment of malignant and benign conditions affecting urinary tract systems and male reproductive organs. He also performs minimally invasive genitourinary procedures focused on tissue sparing and preserving organ function. He has a special interest in using novel diagnostic imaging and treatment options for prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer.
Most recently, Dr. Sorbellini was the urology site chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital and an assistant professor of urology at Weill Cornell Medical College. He received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and completed his urology residency at McGill University Health Center in Montreal, Canada and a urologic oncology fellowship at the Urology Oncology Branch at the NIH National Cancer Institute. Dr. Sorbellini has published multiple research articles, and has presented at national and international conferences.
