Cancer Specialist Howard Benn, MD, Joins  the Englewood Health Physician Network and Englewood Hospital

December 5, 2019 — Cancer specialist Howard A. N. Benn, MD, has joined the Englewood Health Physician Network and Englewood Hospital. Dr. Benn’s primary clinical interests are cancers of the breast, colon, lung, pancreas, and prostate, as well as lymphoma, leukemia, and other blood cancers. He has expertise in bone marrow transplantation and clinical trials. He joins Englewood Health Physician Network – HVA Medical Group and welcomes new patients to his practice locations in Fair Lawn and Clifton.

“Understanding that each cancer patient is unique, I listen carefully and offer education, to allow my patients and their families to understand their specific disease and treatment options,” says Dr. Benn. “Today, there are many new advances in cancer treatment, offering more hope than ever, and I respect and support each patient on his or her individual journey.”

He adds, “I am delighted to join The Lefcourt Family Treatment and Wellness Center at Englewood Hospital. As a member of the Englewood Health Physician Network, I’ll be able to better serve my cancer patients through closer communication with primary care physicians and other specialists across the network and by utilizing a shared electronic medical record.”

Board certified in hematology, medical oncology and internal medicine, Dr. Benn received his MD from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in Guangzhou, China. He completed a fellowship in abdominal surgical oncology at the Tumor Hospital and Cancer Institute in Guagzhou, before returning to the U.S. for an internal medicine residency at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, in Paterson, New Jersey. After doing a bone marrow transplantation fellowship at Hackensack University Medical Center, he was chief fellow in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center (Seton Hall University School of Health and Medical Sciences).

Dr. Benn joins Englewood Health from Sebastian Medical Associates, Colfax Oncology, LLC, in Clifton. He served as vice chairman of the chemotherapy committee at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System and was a member of the health system’s medical executive committee. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Blood and Bone Marrow Transplantation. In addition to English, he speaks Chinese and French.
