Herbert Dardik, MD, is Chief Emeritus of Vascular Surgery and General Surgery. Dr. Dardik is board certified in surgery. He specializes in diagnosing and treating vascular conditions such as peripheral vascular disease, as well as limb salvage and lower extremity surgical techniques. Dr. Dardik holds seven patents and three copyrights, including the first tissue-engineered bypass graft used to prevent gangrene and save lower limbs. He also helped develop new techniques to assist carotid artery surgery and popularized a variety of vascular tools and instruments that led to limb preservation. Dr. Dardik launched one of the first wound care centers in the area, and founded both The Vascular Fellowship Program and vascular surgery research laboratory at Englewood Hospital. In addition, he established the Shadow Program for high school students to observe medicine in practice. Dr. Dardik is a founding member of several vascular societies, including the Eastern Vascular Society, the Vascular Society of New Jersey, and the American College of Physician Inventors.
