March 17, 2014 – Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (EHMC) employees joined the Colon Cancer Alliance’s national movement to help raise awareness and promote prevention of colon cancer by showing off their blue threads on “Dress in Blue Day.”
According to the American Cancer Society, colon cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States and the second leading cause of cancer death. The “Dress in Blue Day” campaign aims to boost awareness and prevention to reduce those alarming statistics.
“Through screening, colon cancer can be prevented if caught early,” said Lori Villa, Special Events Planner at EHMC. “Englewood Hospital employees are proud to join in this nationwide effort to educate patients and their loved ones about the disease.”
To mark the event, the Medical Center provided resources and free colon cancer awareness bracelets with colonoscopy reminders to patients, visitors and employees.
