Englewood Health Expands Culturally Responsive Care for Asian Communities with $500,000 State Grant

State funding will support expansion of the Asian Health and Wellness Center and greater access to care for patients and families

Oct. 8, 2026 — Yesterday, Englewood Health welcomed state and community leaders to its Asian Health and Wellness Center in Englewood Cliffs to celebrate a $500,000 state grant supporting the center’s expansion.

The funding, secured in the state budget with support from State Senator Gordon Johnson and Assemblywoman Ellen J. Park, will support the expansion of Englewood Health’s Asian Health and Wellness Center, increasing access to comprehensive, culturally responsive care for Bergen County’s Asian American community. The center’s expansion is part of a larger project that will add approximately 100,000 square feet to Englewood Health’s Englewood Cliffs campus, expanding outpatient services and creating additional space to meet the growing health care needs of the community.

“This investment is about making sure patients can access exceptional care in an environment where they feel understood, welcomed and supported,” said Warren Geller, president and CEO of Englewood Health. “We are grateful to Senator Johnson, Assemblywoman Ellen Park, and our state leaders for recognizing the importance of culturally responsive care and investing in the health of the communities we serve.”

The Asian Health and Wellness Center was created to provide comprehensive care tailored to the health needs of the region’s Korean and Chinese communities. Located in Englewood Cliffs, the center brings together primary and specialty care in one location, with a multilingual team that helps patients navigate their care while addressing language and cultural barriers.

“When you can’t communicate with a patient in the language they’re most comfortable with, you can miss the subtleties and nuances of their story—details that are often essential to making a diagnosis,” said Stephen Brunnquell, MD, president of the Englewood Health Physician Network. “We’ve created a center where not only our doctors and nurses, but also our receptionists, medical assistants and other support staff, can communicate with patients in their preferred language.”

This week’s celebration brought together Englewood Health leaders, physicians, staff, elected officials and community partners to recognize the investment and the continued growth of the Asian Health and Wellness Center.
