Englewood Health NewsEnglewood Hospital Redesignated by Magnet Recognition Program for Excellence in Nursing
Among an elite group of hospitals in the nation to earn the distinction six times
March 25, 2026 — Englewood Hospital has been redesignated as a Magnet® organization by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®, one of the most prestigious distinctions a healthcare organization can receive for nursing excellence and patient care.
Magnet recognition is widely regarded as the gold standard for nursing excellence, recognizing healthcare organizations that demonstrate superior patient outcomes, strong nursing leadership, and a culture that empowers nurses to innovate and deliver the highest quality care.
“Magnet recognition is a reflection of what happens at the bedside every day,” said Kathleen Kaminsky, MS, RN, NE-BC, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Englewood Health. “Our nurses bring extraordinary skill, compassion, and dedication to every patient they care for. Achieving Magnet recognition for the sixth time speaks to the strength of our nursing culture and the commitment our team brings to delivering exceptional care.”

Warren Geller, president and CEO of Englewood Health; Steven E. Siesser, chairman of the Board of Trustees; and Kathleen Kaminsky, MS, RN, NE-BC, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer, celebrate Magnet redesignation with members of the nursing team and hospital colleagues.
Englewood Hospital first earned Magnet recognition in 2002 and has maintained it continuously since—placing it among an elite group of hospitals nationwide to achieve the distinction six times.
“Exceptional care starts with exceptional nurses,” said Warren Geller, president and CEO of Englewood Health. “This recognition reflects the professionalism, expertise, and leadership of our nursing team and the culture they have helped create across our organization. Their work touches every patient and every family who comes through our doors.”
In addition to earning Magnet recognition for overall nursing excellence, Englewood Hospital was recognized for seven exemplars—areas in which the team performed better than benchmark rates. These included the percentage of nurses with specialty certification, the percentage of nurses with a bachelor’s degree or higher, reduction in turnover rate, reduction in workplace violence, and exceptional performance in preventing multidrug-resistant organisms, patient burns, and surgical errors.
Research consistently shows that Magnet hospitals deliver measurable benefits for patients and healthcare professionals alike, including:
- Higher patient satisfaction with nurse communication, responsiveness, and discharge information
- Lower risk of 30-day mortality and lower failure-to-rescue rates
- Higher job satisfaction among nurses
- Lower nurse turnover and stronger workforce stability
The Magnet Model used by the ANCC evaluates organizations across multiple domains, including nursing leadership, collaboration across specialties, innovation in clinical practice, and the measurement and improvement of patient outcomes.
Healthcare organizations must reapply for Magnet recognition every four years. During the redesignation process, hospitals must provide extensive documentation demonstrating sustained excellence in nursing practice and measurable improvements in quality and patient outcomes since their previous recognition. The process also includes an opportunity for patients and community members to share their experiences with the organization.
