About Huzaifa Shakir, MD
Huzaifa Shakir, MD, is a thoracic and general surgeon. His primary clinical interests include thoracic oncology, with a focus on lung and esophageal cancer; benign and malignant foregut disease; diaphragmatic and chest wall disorders; pleural and mediastinal disease; tracheal conditions; and minimally invasive and robotic thoracic surgery.
Dr. Shakir earned his MD at Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at North Shore University Hospital, followed by a cardiothoracic surgery residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Dr. Shakir is board certified in thoracic surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in his field. Dr. Shakir is also an associate professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Rutgers University. He joined the Englewood Health Physician Network in 2023.
