I am amazed at the difference bariatric surgery makes in people’s lives, not just physically but socially, professionally, and emotionally. It is like no other field in surgery. It allows the surgeon to have a lifelong relationship with the patient. It is the most gratifying field because it gives me the chance to really make a difference in someone’s life. Because of that, I absolutely love what I do and have dedicated myself to this field.

About Stefanie Vaimakis

Dr. Vaimakis is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She has dedicated her practice to bariatric surgery for the last 20 years with over 10,000 cases to date. She was the first to perform robotic bariatric surgery Englewood Hospital and several other local hospitals. She has been named to Castle Connolly Top Docs, Bergen's Best Top Doctors as well as Castle Connolly’s Exceptional Women in Medicine for the last 5 years now. Her practice specializes not just in offering the sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, lap band and revisional surgery but most importantly focuses on personalized one-on-one aftercare with the doctor to ensure long term success. Her expertise in obesity medicine has allowed her to be able to treat patients who have regained weight after bariatric surgery and get them back on track to reach their goals.
