Margit Kaufman, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Margit Kaufman is an anesthesiologist and intensivist whose passion is for providing excellent, compassionate, and evidence-based care to her patients. After joining Englewood Health, Dr. Kaufman became increasingly more involved with treating patients for whom blood transfusion is not an option. She became an active champion for patient blood management within her department and the hospital community.

Currently, Dr. Kaufman serves as medical director of the Institute for Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Englewood Hospital. She works closely on a daily basis with the clinical staff and local coordinators to ensure that the patients who are part of our Bloodless Institute continue to receive high-quality care. Dr. Kaufman also continues to serve as an informal consultant for her department in matters of treatment and management of massive hemorrhage and coagulopathy.

Dr. Kaufman has co-authored manuscripts and book chapters with Dr. Aryeh Shander on topics related to anemia management and the critically ill patient. On both a state and national level, Dr. Kaufman is a representative to national committees for both anesthesiology and critical care medicine.
