Englewood Hospital Named a Best Hospital for Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report for Fifth Year in a Row

December 9, 2025 — Englewood Hospital has once again been recognized as one of the nation’s best hospitals for maternity care by U.S. News & World Report, earning a “High Performing” rating—its highest designation—in the 2026 Best Hospitals for Maternity list.

This marks the fifth year Englewood Hospital has earned this honor, having been recognized every year since U.S. News & World Report introduced its maternity rankings in 2021.

“Achieving this recognition is a testament to the compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment our nurses, physicians, and staff bring to every mother and baby,” says Valerie M. French, MBA, BSN, RNC-LRN, senior director of nursing for maternal/child health at Englewood Hospital. “Families know they will be welcomed, supported, and cared for by a team that listens, values their choices, and prioritizes their safety.”

“Our team approaches every birth with the same goal: safe, individualized care that honors each family’s needs,” says Arthur Gross, MD, chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Englewood Hospital. “Being recognized for the fifth year in a row speaks to the consistency and excellence of our maternity program and the trust our patients place in us during such a meaningful moment in their lives.”

The U.S. News & World Report High Performing rating reflects outstanding performance across key quality measures, including lower C-section rates, fewer early deliveries, reduced newborn complications, and strong breastfeeding support.

Englewood Hospital delivers over 3,000 babies each year at the Karen and Gary Singer Family Family Birth Place. More than 30 obstetricians, located throughout Bergen and Hudson counties, deliver babies at Englewood Hospital and work collaboratively with the hospital’s specialized maternal-child health nursing team in the Merle and Fred Fish & Family Mother/Baby Unit.

The hospital’s tertiary-level maternity services include maternal-fetal medicine specialists and neonatologists available onsite to provide advanced care for high-risk mothers and newborns. Englewood Hospital also delivers timely and high-quality care for its smallest patients at the Gordon Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
