The Community Chest of Englewood Awards 2016 Grant to Benefit Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Foundation

July 11, 2016 – Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (EHMC) Foundation is grateful to be the recent recipient of a generous grant from The Community Chest of Englewood. The grant will allow EHMC’s emergency medical services (EMS) to procure ballistic protective equipment for use during active shooter and mass casualty incidents (AS/MCIs).

“The Community Chest is pleased to make this contribution to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center,” said Shelly Wimpfheimer, executive director of The Community Chest, a nonprofit organization that raises and distributes funds annually to agencies servicing people in need in Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, and Tenafly. “We are reminded about the importance of emergency ballistic gear daily and consider this grant to be a service to our local community.”

The process of access, assessment, and evacuation of victims in an AS/MCIs is complex and requires a coordinated response by law enforcement, fire/rescue, and EMS. Through the generosity of The Community Chest of Englewood, EHMC’s EMS will now have the necessary equipment to safely treat, stabilize, and evacuate victims.
