Englewood Health Designated a Pancreatic Cancer “Center of Excellence” by the National Pancreas Foundation, One of Four in New Jersey

August 31, 2022 — The Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center at Englewood Health has been recognized as a Pancreatic Cancer “Center of Excellence” by the National Pancreas Foundation (NPF).

Englewood Health joins three New Jersey centers and 154 centers nation-wide that have achieved this designation. The Center of Excellence designation reflects Englewood Health’s commitment to delivering best of class pancreatic cancer care within the community.

To become an NPF Center of Excellence, institutions must demonstrate a focus on providing high-quality, multidisciplinary, pancreatic cancer care, as well as a commitment to treating the “whole patient” rather than just their disease.

“We are honored to be designated an NPF Center for the treatment of pancreatic cancer,” said Steven Brower, MD, medical director of the Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center, chief of hepatobiliary surgery, chief of surgical oncology, and a pancreatic cancer specialist with Englewood Health.

“Having this designation speaks to our commitment to providing the best possible outcomes, unparalleled experience for the surgical, medical, and radiation oncology team members treating pancreatic cancer, and an improved quality of life for our patients.”

An approved NPF Center must also meet criteria developed by a task force of subject matter experts and patient advocates. Expert physician specialties such as gastroenterologists, pancreas surgeons, and interventional radiologists must be made available to patients, as well as patient-focused programs such as a pain management service, psychosocial support and more.
