April 29, 2014 – Fourth grade students from The Hoover School in Bergenfield recently visited Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (EHMC) for an interactive learning program called, “Systems of the Body.”
Guest speakers from Englewood Hospital’s medical staff educated the class about the body’s skeletal, immune, digestive, circulatory, muscular and nervous systems. Members of EHMC’s departments of Internal Medicine, Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, Food and Nutrition, and The School of Radiography participated.
Students learned about the importance of keeping each system of the body in full working order, whether it meant drinking calcium to strengthen bones or washing hands to help fight germs. Speakers used props to help illustrate complex ideas and points, offering students a visually exciting educational experience. The class also had the opportunity to ask questions during the presentations.
