January 6, 2014 – The Family Birth Place at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (EHMC) recently debuted its new Mother/Baby unit, featuring state-of-the-art technology in an inviting, hotel-like environment. Staff welcomed its first patients, Quasetta Sifunjo and her newest addition, Gianna.
Mrs. Sifunjo gave birth to her daughter on December 17 at 4:05pm. Mom and baby enjoyed their first few days in the new suite, which offers 21 spacious, fully-furnished patient rooms with private bathrooms. Other amenities include room service and sleeper sofas for family and guests.
“The new unit is absolutely beautiful,” said Mrs. Sifunjo. “The staff made the birth of my second child a wonderful experience. It was almost hard to believe I was in a hospital. I felt like we were staying in a five-star hotel.”
In addition to all of the amenities, new parents can rest easy knowing their baby is receiving the safest, highest-quality care. The new unit provides the latest bedside-care technology and a well-baby nursery that boasts the most advanced equipment available.
“The new space allows us to continue to provide the high level of care we are known for, with the added benefits of a more private, comfortable experience for new mothers, babies and their families,” said Shaija George, RN, MBA, MS, CPNP, Patient Care Director of the Mother/Baby Unit at EHMC.
The Mother/Baby unit is the first completed stage of construction to the new Family Birth Place. To schedule a tour, visit englewoodhospital.com or call Childbirth Education Coordinator, Ines Serna, at 201-894-3727.
