Englewood Hospital Residents

The goal of the Community Medicine curriculum is to expose Internal Medicine residents across their 36 months of training to a variety of topics including social determinants of health, health disparities, and the care of at-risk patient populations. Integral to this curriculum is the recognition of the complex social matrix that directly influences the patient’s health. To this end, this curriculum also seeks to introduce the topics of health policy, advocacy, engagement with community-based organizations, and the role of the physician in promoting health equity. To be community minded, the Internal Medicine resident must have exposure to the communities they serve and as such the curriculum is designed to offer a combination of interactive conferences and experiential activities, including the opportunity for community outreach.
