Point of Care Ultrasound

Englewood Hospital Residents

Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is a diagnostic tool that utilizes ultrasound technology to assess patients at the bedside.  The experience is longitudinally embedded in the PG1 year with a focus on introducing the core concepts of POCUS and developing skills in image acquisition and interpretation of core structures, management decision support, and performing ultrasound-guided procedures.  Core learning modules are completed during the Ambulatory blocks. Residents also attend regular “Gel Rounds” with one of our POCUS trained Hospitalists where they obtain hands-on training with patients on their own teams to reinforce skills learned.
